As a Neighbourhood Resource Officer (NRO) I got the chance to attend the Toronto FC home opener with some great kids from 51 Division.

I am one of the NROs in Regent Park and one my mandates is creating strong relationships with the community.

For the past several months myself and Constable Omar Tayara have been participating in a soccer program organized by the Omar Bin Khattab Mosque for Muslim youth from Regent Park.

We also have a good relationship with ProAction Cops & Kids  as we already partnered with them to launch a bike club last year and recently let them know about the mosque's soccer program.

ProAction provided us with tickets to the opening game of Toronto FC held at BMO field on Saturday, March 22. We were able to recruit eight youth from the soccer program to attend the game.

The seats were excellent – we had a private suite. The youth were very happy and grateful. And TFC managed a 1-0 win.

It certainly turned out to be a very positive experience that helps strengthen the relationship we have with the youth in our Division.
