42 Division would like to remind all community members that commercial break-and-enters are still occurring in our division.
If you are passing by or anywhere near a commercial establishment and see a suspicious person or activity in relation to the building, please speak with a company staff member or call the police at 416-808-2222 to report the activity immediately. This information could be very helpful with the investigation of criminal activity or the apprehension of the person(s) responsible.
The 42 Division Business Watch program is a good way for business owners to help prevent crime.
Q: What is Business Watch?
A: Business Watch is a collaborative crime prevention program for businesses located in 42 Division. The key to Business Watch is two way communication between the business community and the local police. Participant businesses must actively report suspicious and criminal activity. The police, in turn, provide valuable crime prevention information through seminars, email alerts, and in-person visits to the business premises.
Q: What does membership in Business Watch involve?
A: Business Watch members are offered a free seminar on the program. They also receive a free target hardening security assessment and are kept up to date on crime trends and business crime media releases through Business Watch E-mail Alerts. In turn, Business Watch members are asked to be on the lookout for unusual or suspicious activity, to report it to Toronto Police Service, and to encourage all their staff to do the same.
Business Watch members are also encouraged to remain in regular contact with their business neighbours.
Q: How can I join Business Watch?
A: If your business is located in 42 Division - bounded by Victoria Park Ave. to Pickering Town Line and Highway 401 to Steeles Ave E. - and you wish to sign-up for 42 Division Business Watch, please contact the 42 Division Crime Prevention Officer at 416-808-4220 or firstname.lastname@example.org
