TO THE FAMILY OF CORPORAL  NATHAN CIRILLO

We, the members of the Muslim Consultative Committee to the Chief of Police, Toronto Police Service, extend to you our profound and unreserved sadness at the tragic, untimely loss of Cpl. Nathan Cirillo. This is nothing but a senseless act by a deranged individual but we know that no such factor can comfort you when you lose a dearly loved one. We feel your anguish and we share your grief.

The entire country stands behind you but the trying moments are when you are alone. The pain will never be lost but we pray that with each new day, you will feel stronger in facing such a grasping, overwhelming  vicissitude.  We feel certain that he has been received at the portals of heaven by God’s best angels and that he will find eternal rest and peace there.

The unity of grief in his passing denotes our harmony as brothers and sisters in humanity. If there is anything this Committee can do to be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Meanwhile, please keep the faith and pray, as we will for you, for relief from the shock we are all going through at Nathan’s demise. Might we respectfully commend to you at this time the words of William Wordsworth from Ode to Intimations of the Immortality:

What though the radiance
That was once so bright
Be now forever taken from thy sight
Though nohing can bring back the hour
Of the splendor in the grass
The glory in the flower
We shall grieve not
Rather find strength
In what remains behind….

May Almighty God grant you comfort, strength, and serenity  in dealing with your loss.

Sincerely Yours,

THE MUSLIM CONSULTAIVE COMMITTEE TO THE CHIEF OF POLICE
