The toy donation box lying in the lobby at HQ was filled to the top by employees of TD Commercial Banking GTA East, who brought in a car full of toys for the drive.

“It’s all about the kids, this is what Christmas is about,” said Sandra Stoute from TD, as she placed presents in the donation box. Stoute, along with her co-worker Juanita Lau, helped get toy donations last year as well.

“We are just trying to get it bigger and better,” said Stoute.

The toy drive, which was kicked off last month by kids from Greenland Public School, is wrapping up this week. It was started by the Employment Unit in partnership with Proaction Cops and Kids and has grown through donations from the school, TPS members and the public.

“This will make a lot of kids happy,” said Annmarie Henry, Unit Commander of the Employment Unit. She estimated that they had managed to collect at least 300 toys.

The toys will be sorted and then distributed by ProAction to children using their programs.

Jean Milligan, the executive director of Proaction, said other officers who work with children are free to stop by at their offices at headquarters and pick up toys to gift to children as well.

“You can come on up and choose toys, we want to share the wealth,” said Milligan.
