The 5th annual 54 Division Charity Soccer Tournament was held on Wednesday April 15th, 2015. The event was organized by Constables Cory Butler and Andrea Dagonas.

The tournament was held at the Major League Sportsplex, 641 Danforth Road, Toronto.  Every year a local charity is selected to be the recipient of the funds raised from the event. This year, PC Butler and PC Dagonas chose Neighbourhood Link – Friday Friends as this recipient. Prior to being a police officer, PC Butler worked with the Friday Friends Group, which is a social club for Down Syndrome Teenagers and Young Adults.

The 160 athletes who participated in the tournament are all TPS employees.  The 16 soccer teams competing in the games represented divisions and Units from across the City.  This year’s winner was 13 Division, scoring a last minute goal against 42 Division to make the score 2-1.

The event raised just over $4,000 for the Friday Friends Group.  This donation will have a significant impact at Friday Friends as the volunteers currently provide their program on an annual budget of $900. 54 Division would like to thank the athletes and all of the volunteers who assisted with making our 5th annual Charity Soccer Tournament another success.
