11 Division station will be open to the public on May 23 & 24 as part of Doors Open Toronto.
Come and visit our station for a tour to see how a police station operates from 10am to 4pm each day. The last tour will take place at 4pm on each day.
The 62,000-square-foot facility incorporates the old Carlton Village Public School, built in 1913, with a large modern outcropping.
The building is rated LEED silver by the Canadian Green Building Council for its liveable and environmental conscious design.
An extensive geothermal well field lies under the parking lot to heat and cool the facility.
There is a storm-water management system that includes a green roof, which staff have access through an outside patio, adjacent to the lunch room.
The green roof provides insulation and also soaks up the excess rainfall so our city storm sewers don't get overly discharged with pollutants, Kyle said, noting there are cisterns that collect clean roof water for use in landscape irrigation.
Each year, many buildings across the city are opened to the public as part of Doors Open Toronto.
