Human Trafficking Arrests

Sex Crimes investigators have arrested two men for allegedly sexually assaulting a 20-year-old woman and holding her in an effort to force her to work as a sex trade worker.

Trian Vassel, 19, and Gavin Campbell, 20, both of Toronto, were arrested in a human trafficking investigation. Investigators believe there may be more victims.

The woman reports she was picked up by an acquaintance who introduced her to three other men at his home. 

Her acquaintance is alleged to have shown her a firearm and all four men sexually assaulted the woman and once again several hours later.  Investigators allege she was photographed to advertise her for sexual services on backpages.com and told to take a shower to prepare for clients.

She later escaped and call police.

On December 15, officers executed a search warrant at a home, locating two men and .357 calibre revolver and a quantity of cocaine.



Gavin Campbell (her acquaintance), 20, of Toronto, is charged with:

Sexual Assault
  • 
Forcible Confinement
  • Trafficking In Persons

  • Procuring or Exercising Control

  • Advertising Sexual Services

  • Use Firearm in Commission of an Offence 

  • Careless Use of a Firearm 

  • Sexual Assault with a Weapon 

  • Contravention of Storage Regulations 

  • Possession of Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm 

  • Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon 

  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized 

  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition 

  • Careless Storage of Ammunition 

  • Possession of a Scheduled I Substance (Cocaine)

  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance

Police continue to look for two other men in relation to the case.
