Just after midnight on October 28, 1989, a 42-year old taxi driver was assaulted by two men and a woman who’d asked to be dropped off in the Park Vista Dr. and Dawes Rd. area.

Once the cab driver was assaulted with a weapon by the three suspects, he lost control of the taxi. It accelerated and struck several parked vehicles before coming to a stop on a swimming pool’s embankment.

Officers from 54 Division investigated the incident in 1989 and 1990, but the suspects weren’t identified at the time.

Detective Sergeant Jim Gotell said new information received by police about four months ago led to the arrest on February 13 of 60-year-old Dale Hoherty, of Toronto.

“She’s known to police, but she wasn’t under investigation for this incident prior to us receiving the new information,” he said.

Charged with attempted murder, Hoherty will make a court appearance on March 21.

Police are still seeking the two other suspects.
