Arrest in Unprovoked Assault

A man was arrested in connection with an unprovoked assault on an elderly woman in Eaton Centre on Saturday, April 24.

The 68-year-old woman was walking through the busy downtown shopping centre when she was head-butted while stopping temporarily to look inside a bag.

The victim fell to the ground and sustained a fractured wrist.

Jonathan Gallant, 33, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault.

He is further charged with assault in a separate incident where he chest-bumped a woman without provocation two months earlier.

The man, who walked towards the Dundas St. E. subway exit, is described as 5’ 7”, 25-35 with a thin build, short dark hair and clean shaven. He was wearing a blue sweater, an Orlando Magic #3 NBA jersey, blue jeans and white runners and was carrying a red sports bag (possibly Goodlife).
