Officers recovered a loaded firearm after a brief foot pursuit in the city’s west end.

On Sunday, July 15, at around 11.45 p.m., officers were dispatched to an impaired driver call when they came across two vehicles stopped in lives lanes of traffic near Dixon Rd. and Kipling Ave.

When an occupant in one of the vehicles ran, officers gave chase on foot.

“During the pursuit, the officers heard a metal clang on the street,” said 23 Division Crime Analyst Const. Steve Williams. “When they caught up with the male near 350 Dixon Rd., they allegedly found drugs on him and a gun nearby.”

The weapon was a .40 caliber Ruger handgun.

Dane Brown, 25, was arrested and charged with firearms and drug trafficking offences.

In the early morning hours alleged that they observed two men consuming drugs in a parked car near Hwy. 27 and Vice Regent Boulevard.

They alleged they found a XD-45 ACP Sub Compact Model 2 handgun in the vehicle.

Romando Bailey, 20, and Jevonte Williams, 18, both of Toronto, face firearm and drug charges.
