Honouring Memory Through Donation

Funds accrued from South & West Asian Community Consultative Committee holiday event along with donations were presented to the GI surgical oncology research program at Sunnybrook in December.

“We use the money we get from this event to assist a worthwhile cause,” said Supt. Riyaz Hussein who chairs the committee that allows the South & West Asian community a platform to work with police. “There are so many, but we thought it would be best to focus on cancer research.”

In December 2018, Heather Rambharack, the wife of Detective Neil Rambharack who is a member of the committee, lost her battle to cancer. She was 38.

“We wanted to honour her life and legacy,” said Hussein.

Rambharack’s daughter, eight-year-old Sarah, made the $2,000 cheque presentation.
