It’s alleged that the driver, who fled on foot after he was stopped, was arrested after a brief pursuit and a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun was recovered.

Noah Idemudia, 21, of Toronto, faces nine charges, including possession of a restricted and loaded firearm.

He made a court appearance later that day.

“There’s lots of issues that our officers are facing, but they are still engaged in enforcement and out there looking for firearms and suspects who are carrying them,” said Supt. Ron Taverner.

“In this particular case, the officers were very diligent, engaged and they used the proper policing techniques to make the arrest. This speaks well to their engagement, our training and all of those important things.”
