Police are confident they will nab a suspect in a kidnapping case who fled police, leading to a collision.
It’s alleged that John Brown, 43, was involved in a kidnapping and aggravated assault of a 33-year-old woman in December.
Detective Graeme Naidoo is appealing to the public to call police if they see Brown, who is considered violent and dangerous. Naidoo said information about Brown’s whereabouts has been coming into police.
“We know he’s still around,” Naidoo said.
On March 10, the suspect evaded police who showed up at a Strathmore Blvd. address to arrest Brown. He drove off in a Black Acura 3.2, refusing to stop for officers.
Acting on a tip a few hours later, after the vehicle the suspect was driving crashed into a building, officers searched the area and located the heavily damaged car. The wanted man fled.
As officers followed Brown’s vehicle, a driver made a sudden U-turn in front of the officer’s car, slamming into the police vehicle. The occupants in both vehicles suffered minor injuries while the suspect escaped.
“He’s threat to public safety and we need to get him off the street,” said Naidoo.
