Man Arrested In Arson Case

A 40-year-old man faces 16 charges in connection with an arson investigation.

Sean Gellvear, 40, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

- Five counts of Mischief over $5000 

- Four counts of Mischief Endangering Life 

- Four counts of Arson Having a Disregard for Human Life 

- Two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation 

- Prowl by Night 

Security camera images were released of a suspect on Dec. 12.

The man is alleged to have committed two arsons. The first occurred in a garage in the rear of 214 Augusta Ave., where a man, who was seen on video, entered a garage and set fire to a number of items.

The second fire, in the area of Oxford St. and Spadina Ave. area., engulfed a row of houses, causing extensive property damage. 

The fire was investigated by the Office of the Fire Marshal and is determined to have been set deliberately.
