Detective Sergeant Gary Giroux points to security footage from Garden resteraunt where suspects in a homicide investigation are shown entering together.

Tariq Mohammed, 31, was killed instantly at The Garden Restaurant,  153 Dundas St W. at around 4 a.m. on November 16, following a robbery in the restaurant’s washroom.

The deceased and a group of individuals had attended the Muzik nightclub before making their way to the popular after-hours restaurant.

Once seated at the front of the restaurant, Mohammed and a friend, who was wearing three large gold chains, went to the washroom at the back of the restaurant where they were confronted by three men, two armed with semi-automatic pistols.

Another violent altercation took place at the front of the restaurant, resulting in Mohammed’s murder behind the take-out counter. Two firearms were used during the attack.

Two female patrons – ages 28 and 20 - in the restaurant were struck by stray bullets. They were treated at an area hospital.

Giroux said he’s turning to members of the public and other police services to help identify the outstanding suspects because the case is going to be an identification-based prosecution.

“I am asking the public, or any members of various police services, to call if they recognize who these individuals are,” he said. “…These individuals are not novices to the criminal justice system. These are going to be people who are extremely dangerous and people who have been involved in criminal offences in the past.”

The suspects include a man and woman who entered the restaurant at 3.47 a.m. with the other offenders and take up positions against the west and north walls respectively.
