A 33-year-old man, alleged to have sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl, turned himself in within hours of his photograph being released by police on Thursday, Aug. 27.
Kurt Charles was wanted on the strength of a warrant for forcible confinement, assault, three counts of sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, sexual interference, uttering threats and invitation to sexual touching.
He has been accused of assaulting the victim for the last year.
Charles is the fourth person to surrender to police, in the last 10 days, after images and names of suspects were released by the TPS. Three of those four people turned themselves in within 12 hours.
On August 19, Mohamud Yousef Omar surrendered to police several hours after his photograph and name were released by police in connection with an attempted murder investigation.
On August 27, Mohamud Abdiwal Diri surrendered to police, and was charged with First-Degree Murder, within hours of police releasing his name and video footage of the shooting in which he was allegedly involved.
On August 27, Dennis Anthony Chatrie surrendered after he was featured in 31 Division’s “Wanted in the Three-One.” He was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and possession of a weapon.
