The widow of Alfredo “Freddie” Patriarca is appealing for witnesses to come forward and assist police with their investigation.
The 42-year-old father was shot and killed in his garage shortly after arriving at his Etobiocke home on the evening of January 20.
At a press conference at police headquarters on February 18, Detective Sergeant Joyce Schertzer read a letter written by Patriarca’s widow, appealing for help in cultivating witnesses.
“I am asking anyone who might know anything or anyone involved in the murder of my husband to please come forward with information that might assist in the arrest of the person responsible for taking his life,” she said. “Freddie was a very loving husband and my best friend. He was an extremely devoted father who adored his two little children. He was a son, a brother, an uncle and a man who was loved by so many. Please don’t let the person who killed Freddie get away with taking such a good and giving man. No one has the right to take the life of another. The person responsible needs to be found before they can do it again. People like this should not be walking the streets like the rest of us.”
Schertzer said Homicide investigators support the widow and her message.
Two weeks ago, Schertzer released security camera video of the suspect, seen moments before the shooting.
“There is little doubt in my mind that someone knows the identity of the shooter,” she said.
Schertzer added that the victim was the intended target of the shooting.
