Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested

Toronto Police arrest 25-year-old man in sexual assault investigation.

On Saturday, April 9, at around 10.30 p.m., a 52-year-old woman saw the suspect loitering in the basement of her apartment in the  Parliament and Howard Sts.area.

The suspect joined the victim in the elevator and brandished a small handgun, while directing the woman to leave the elevator. Forcing the victim into a stairwell, he sexually assaulted her before fleeing through the front lobby.

The victim received medical treatment and was later released from hospital.

On Sunday April 10, at around 2 p.m., a man with a similar description was seen loitering in a building near  Isabella & Jarvis Sts.  He fled before police arrived.

Nine days later, Sex Crimes Unit members saw a man in the  Bloor and Parliament Sts.  area matching the suspect’s description.

After engaging him in conversation, the man was arrested and taken to 51 Division.

Kyle Michael Junior Young, 25, of Toronto, is facing seven charges, including sexual assault with a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

He is scheduled to make a court appearance today.

“We believe there may be other victims,” said Detective Sergeant Joanne Rudnick, at a press conference at police headquarters on April 20.
