Joel Alexander, 27, was shot in a drive-by shooting on  Peter St., north of King St. W., around 4.15 p.m. on December 11. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

At a news conference at police headquarters on May 19, Detective Sergeant Terry Browne said the public has been helpful, so far, with the investigation.

“When we first started the investigation, we appealed to all of the residents and people working in the area to let us know what they saw,” he said. “We also had access to security images.”

A composite photo of the suspect, along with a security image of the vehicle he was driving at the time, have been released.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30s and very good-looking. The vehicle is described as a 2006 silver Lexus 250 or 350 with tinted windows.

“We are looking for anyone who may recognize this vehicle,” said Browne. “We don’t necessarily say it has to be from the Greater Toronto Area. It could be from outside of the area. I am surprised I haven’t found the vehicle as yet in Toronto.”

Browne believes the vehicle followed the deceased for a period of time before the suspect opened fire.
