Sex Crimes investigators are seeking the public’s assistance identifying a suspect they believe is responsible for at least three sexual assaults in Toronto and York Region.
On May 26, at around 1 p.m., an 18-year-old woman who had just disembarked from a bus in the Keele St. and Rutherford Rd.area in Vaughan, was about to unlock her door when she turned around and saw a man staring at her.
The man attacked the woman and a fight ensued on the front lawn of the residence. She was sexually assaulted before he fled the scene.
On Wednesday, June 8, at approximately 11 p.m., a 33-year-old woman was walking in the Whitmore Ave. and Fairleigh Crescent area when an unknown man approached her from behind and assaulted her. During a brief struggle, she was thrown to the ground. He fled when she started to scream.
Thirteen days later, on June 21 at about 11.15 p.m., a 29-year-old woman was walking in the Brooke Ave. and Yonge Blvd. area when she was approached from behind by an unknown man who dragged her up a driveway and pushed her against a fence. She was sexually assaulted before the man fled the scene.
“We believe the three sexual assaults were committed by the same individual,” Sex Crimes Inspector Pauline Gray said, at a press conference at police headquarters on July 5, noting they are concerned there may be other sex assaults by the suspect.
Police released security camera video and photos of the suspect, as well as the four-door vehicle he was driving at the time of the assaults.
The suspect, who was wearing glasses, is described as black, 20-40, 5’8” - 6’, with a muscular build, facial and short black hair.
