Homicide investigators have released video of a person they believe is the suspect in a shooting murder last month.

On Sunday, November 27, just before 4 p.m., Marcus Gibson was fatally shot in his second floor bedroom on Munro St.

The video footage shows the suspect approaching Gibson’s residence at approximately 3:20 p.m. The same person is seen running north on  Munro St. from the crime scene 36 minutes later.

“We believe this person may have gotten into a vehicle that travelled north on Munro St. towards Gerrard St.,” Detective Murray Barnes said at a news conference at police headquarters on December 9.

The suspect was wearing gloves and, what investigators believe, is a distinctive Detroit Tigers baseball cap.

“The cap has a distinctive pattern on the top side of the peak,” said Barnes. “It appears to be very recognizable. This investigation is moving forward and we are appealing to those who may know this person to call us and provide information.”

Barnes said police haven’t received much assistance from the public since Gibson’s slaying.

“Having said that, I don’t believe that the community that surrounds this residence has much to do with the suspect,” he said. “So, in that regard, that’s why that Riverdale community hasn’t been very vocal.”

He said Gibson is missed greatly by his friends and family who are devastated by his death and are helping investigators.
