Public Help Sought in Homicide

Homicide investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in connection with the first murder in the city this year.

Anthony Smith, 41, died after he was shot on January 8 near Queen St. E. and Sherbourne St.

Anthony Earl Smith, 41, was shot on January 8 near  Queen St. E. and Seaton St. around 7:45 a.m. He later died in hospital.

“He was shot once in the chest,” said Detective Rob North, the lead investigator.

He is appealing to anyone with information, including security camera video from residential or commercial buildings in the area to contact police.

“We have already had some people from the community come forward and we are still looking for more help,” said North.
