On January 12 and 13, multiple wallets were stolen in the downtown area.

Detective Mike Rogers said the wallets were taken from victims’ coats and bags while they were seated in coffee shops and eateries in areas with high pedestrian traffic.

“After they were stolen, the credit cards were compromised and used for cash advances and retail purchases,” he said.

Rogers said four men captured on surveillance cameras were shown at Yorkdale Mall a few hours later making purchases with the stolen credit cards.

“I have no doubt the suspects are working together,” he added.
