Homicide investigators want to identify two men seen speaking to a murder victim shortly before he was killed.
The Persons of Interest were seen speaking to Dylan Gill,
24, at the Cameo Lounge nightclub at 4120 Steeles Ave. W. A short time later, Gill
was in the backseat of a car on Islington Ave., near Milady Rd., before 12:50
a.m. on January 23, when a dark-coloured sedan sidled up to the car he was in
and opened fire. Gill died later in hospital.
Homicide Detective Sergeant Mike Carbone said Gill, who was riding in the backseat, with two female friends in the front of the car, was the only one struck and was believed to be the only one targeted.
Carbone believes an incident at the nightclub may have prompted the shooting but there was no physical altercation seen on security video.
“The deceased had become involved in an altercation, prompting him to leave,” said Carbone. “My appeal, here today, is to reach out to people in the nightclub. Hopefully by identifying these people we can move the investigation forward.”
Many of the people at the club that night were there to watch or perform in a video by rap artist Robin Banks.
Carbone said he would like to talk to anyone who witnessed the suspect vehicle or any incidents surrounding the shooting westbound on Steeles Ave. W. or southbound on Islington Ave.
