Police are looking for a shooter and the driver of a vehicle involved in a shooting on April 23 in the city’s northwest end.
It’s alleged the victim was a passenger in a red SUV that parked near 1800 Martin Grove Rd. where he and others engaged in conversation with several people hanging around the area.
At around 6.07 p.m., the victim exits the SUV and is seen speaking with the suspect. After the two men walk away from the group and continue to speak to each other, the victim turns away from the suspect and is seen retrieving something out of a handbag.
At the same time, the suspect brandishes a firearm and both attempt to shoot each other.
The victim fell to the ground after being shot several times in the lower body area and the suspect fled into the complex area.
At a news conference at 23 Division on June 6, Superintendent Ron Taverner said one of the men from the car that brought the victim, went over to him, retrieved the gun the victim pulled out and placed it in the vehicle before he and several others loaded the victim into the car.
“They took the victim to the area of 345 Dixon Rd. and dumped him in a parking lot,” said Taverner.
The victim was treated for gunshot wounds and taken to hospital.
Taverner said this crime was particularly callous.
“It was a warm Sunday evening and there were a number of citizens in the area and children playing,” he said. “They had a total disregard for life and this is very disturbing to us.”
The shooter is described as male, black, light complexion, 20-25, 5’8” - 5’10”, heavy build, black braided hair and a thin beard.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 22-year-old Liban Hussein.
He’s wanted for several outstanding firearm-related charges.
He’s described as black, light complexion, 5’10”, 200 lbs. with short black hair and clean-shaven.
