Police responded to the shooting on Gennela Square, in the Morningside Avenue and 401 area, around 1 a.m.

Rinaldo Cole, 33, and Dwayne Campbell, 30, were pronounced dead at the scene while a woman, the host of her birthday celebration, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her condition has since being upgraded to serious, but stable.

Detective Rob North said the female victim was a regular visitor to the residence and there were nearly 200 people at the party.

“I can tell you that we have had very little co-operation from people,” he said at a press conference hours after the homicides. “We have interviewed a small amount of those individuals who were there. Anyone who has not been spoken to, and who was at the party, is being asked to contact us. There was also a large amount of video that was recorded. If you don’t want to come forward with your recordings, you can go through Crime Stoppers. If anyone in the vicinity has backyard surveillance or video, kindly contact us.”

North also appealed to area residents to call police if they see anything suspicious on their premises.

“If you are out walking or working in your backyard, and you see something that may be of interest to the police, contact us at 42 Division,” he added.
