Investigators believe that two sexual assaults that occurred a year and a half and 150 km apart were committed by the same man and are asking the public for more help in solving the cases.
Toronto Police Service Sex Crimes investigators and the Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Branch have set up a tip phone line and email address where the public can share their information.
On July 28, 2015 at around 1 a.m., in the Dufferin St. and Rogers Rd. area, a 23-year-old woman was approached from behind by a man, dragged into a laneway and sexually assaulted.
On January 1, 2017 at approximately 1.50 a.m., officers from the Collingwood OPP detachment responded to a report that a woman was pulled into a vehicle by a man and sexually assaulted. The incident occurred in the Birch and Second St. area.
Police have been able to identify that the suspect is known to frequent the Collingwood and Toronto areas and that he’s in his mid-20s to mid30s, approximately 5’6”, medium build with brown skin and a full neatly trimmed beard.
On New Year’s Eve, the suspect – while in Collingwood – had access to or was in possession of a light-coloured, four-door sedan with black steel winter-style rims. Investigators want to hear from anyone who may have noticed the suspect or his vehicle.
