The Toronto Police Service once again has a Movember fundraising team, the @TorontoPolice Follicle Force, captained by 53 Division Staff Sergeant Scott Bradbury.

The team will be competing in the inaugural 2018 9-1-1 Toronto Emergency Services Movember Challenge, which pits the Toronto Police, Toronto Fire, and Toronto Paramedic Movember teams against each other to collect the most money to support men’s health awareness and research.

Movember is an annual month-long fundraising event where participants grow moustaches or take pledges over the course of November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other men’s health issues.

Service members are encouraged to register for the team at and grow their mo, support a team, or raise funds to support men's health via the Movember Foundation. MoBros and MoSistas from across the Service, both officers and civilians are welcome to join.

"There are many reasons why we decided to form this team, and challenge Toronto Fire and Toronto Paramedics to a fundraising challenge: team building, camaraderie... the simple pleasure of growing a moustache," said Bradbury. "But the reality is that we have all been touched by the issues that surround the Movember campaign. Prostate and testicular cancer have touched the lives of many men and their families, and mental health issues are something that we not only see in our professional experience, but also something that can affect us a result. We are raising funds to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives, and we hope members will support us in this cause."

Over the last five years, over 800 members of the Toronto Police Service and Toronto Police Association have registered for the Toronto Police Movember teams, and have raised over $250,000 for the Movember Foundation. The Toronto Police Association will be once again matching fundraising dollars raised by Follicle Force.

Funds raised go to support research and health promotion programs year-round, focussing on men's health, specifically men's mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

The Movember Foundation is the largest global men's health charity and aims to stop men dying too young and to help men live happier, healthier, longer lives.
